Ok, 2 weeks ago I went in for a 7 week ultra sound and it showed an empty sac that was only measuring 4weeks along. I was told it was most likely a bo and my body would miscarry naturally just fine since it was so early. Well after a week of waiting I called my OB office and said NO PROGRESS so they had me go in for 3 sets of blood test a few days apart and my HCG is still rising!! In the mean time I have been spotting and passing very small dark brown clots and having what feels like the start of menstrual cramps. I am hoping to go in for an ultra sound tomorrow but until them I am left to wait and wonder.

I wish I had answers but for each of us it is different. With my BO the sac measured 6 wks but I didn't have any bleeding until 13 wks and ended up taking miso to mc as my body was obviously in no hurry. I am sorry you are going through this. It is hard enough when you find out about a BO let alone when it feels like your own body is betraying you. Just remember we are here for you and even though we have all gone through it differently we have all been threre. (((HUGS)))

Thank you! I really think that my body is just not getting the message or taking it's time. My ob told me to go in for an ultra sound tomorrow so hopefully that will give me some answers.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had a similar experience to you - except that I never started bleeding on my own. But my HCG levels continues to rise until I had my D&C and then they never went back to normal afterwards. Hopefully the ultrasound tomorrow will give the docs an idea of whether or not there is any fetal tissue remaining that is causing your levels to rise. In my case, we never saw anything on ultrasound but, as you said, my body was not getting the message so my doctor diagnosed me with gestational trophoblastic disease, when a few fetal cells stick around and continue to produce HCG. I ended up having to take a dose of methotrexate which is normally prescribed for molar pregnancies. This is not to scare you. Just so you know that you are not alone in your experience. And, if you have any questions after tomorrow, please don't hesitate to PM me or email me directly at: marisa.raymond@gmail.comMy thoughts are with you!

The ultra sound today showed basically the same thing as 2 weeks ago except the sac was flat and had tissue in it from it beginning to break down which is all a good sign that things are moving in the right direction I guess. I go in for another blood test tomorrow morning and then meet with my doctor tomorrow afternoon. I don't mean to be graphic but they did a trans vaginal ultra sound and there was so much bright red blood, this is the first time I have seen bright red blood and I haven't seen any since then. It's all just so weird, I wish I could just put this nightmare behind me!!

Well today when I was out with the kids I started having really bad cramps to the point where I just couldn't be out anymore so I went to lift my 3yr old into his carseat and had a gush of blood and could feel a big clot pass. I totally soaked the extra extra absorbent pad I was wearing and my jeans but we made it home and I had passed another 3 or 4 more big clots with lots of bleeding in about an hours time. My midwife called this afternoon to check on me and said that in my ultra sound yesterday the sac was really low and ready to come out so she thinks the worst is probably over. Right now I am having no cramps but am still bleeding like a heavy period and can tell I lost a lot of blood because I am just feel wore out and kind of weak but am feeling much better after drinking a lot of water and eating dinner. I really hope that was the worst of it, I am so greatful for this board and all of you that shared your stories. I felt so prepaird, as soon as I even had a hit of cramping this morning I took pain meds and put on that huge pad. I can't imagine how much pain I would have been in and the mess that would have happened if I hadn't listened to all your advice. I hope someone that stumbles across this thread is helped from it as well!!

I hope that worst of the bleeding is over for you, and it will taper off over the next couple days. Make sure you are getting enough iron as you lost a lot of blood-- an iron supplement may be a good idea for awhile, and eat lots of iron rich foods like red meat, dried fruits, spinach, iron-fortified cereal (cream of wheat is one good one). It can take awhile for your hemoglobin levels to come back up if they are low from heavy bleeding, and low hemoglobin usually makes you feel very tired, and lightheaded/faint at times. It's good that you are keeping hydrated.
At least this physical part will be over soon, and you won't have to worry about that anymore. Know that we are here for you after that, too, when the often more difficult emotional healing journey starts.
Hugs!!

It sounds like your body is taking care of itself and that is always a good sign. And I agree with KC, I know it's hard with kids who need your attention too but try to take some extra time for yourself over the next few days and weeks to help your body heal. I hope the worst is over for you and you can start to move forward physically and emotionally. I'm glad you found support and guidance from this site and I hope you know that we will always be here for you going forward too.
Take care!
