I just got back from my first ultrasound which was to see how far along I was in my pregnancy because we were unsure. Instead of telling me how far along I was they told me that they couldn't see the baby and I could have a blighted ovum. After understanding what that was I am devastated. I go back in a week to have a more in depth pelvic ultrasound because my doctor's machine isn't that updated so I guess she wanted to make sure. Now I am left waiting a week to find out if I have a blighted ovum and if so what to do next. I want to naturally miscarry because I have afraid of anything medical, but am worried if I am 8 weeks along if my body will be able to. I am mostly just scared, hurt, and upset. I don't really know what I am feeling all I know is it doesn't feel good. Just stumbled upon this board to seek some encouragement.

Big big HUGS, I am in a similar boat right now, but this my 3rd missed miscarriage. I am 8 weeks, too. With me, they did see a heartbeat one week, and it was gone the next. I hope and pray that next time, they see something on the internal u/s in your case!
I am waiting on a natural miscarriage, right now.
Please PM me here if you want extra support. Big big HUGS

Big hugs! I'm so sorry for the emotional roller coaster you're on. We've all been where you are and know how devastating the feeling of the unknown is. I've had 2 losses, the first a blighted ovum and the second 2 days after see the heart beat. I m/s naturally with both at about 9 weeks. My doctor told me that after 10 weeks m/c'ing naturally may cause complications such as heavy bleeding so anything later that than should be done with a d&c. There are medications you can take to help speed up the process if you choose go natural. I didnt take them, but several ladies here have. However, I'm still going to hold out hope that you see a heartbeat when you have the u/s next week. It could be that you're not far enough along to see much yet, which is what I'm praying for. In the meantime, please know that we're all here for you.
Big hugs! Alexa

I'm so sorry for what you are having to go through right now. I've been there and know how emotionally draining it is. Hopefully they will be able to see something on your next doctors visit. However, if they don't, you have stumbled upon a wonderful site, full of women who have experienced having a miscarriage and will be able to offer tremendous support.
If you are 8 weeks along, miscarrying naturally shouldn't be a problem. Like Alexa mentioned, if your body goes beyond 10 weeks before recognizing what is happening, taking a medication to induce it might not be a bad idea.
I'll be sending up prayers for you and your family.
Hugs, Alisha
