What a difficult & worrisome pregnancy - 1st the Dr. suspected a Blighted ovum - but thankfully was wrong. Then I started to spot on 1-29-10, this has continued but is very minimal, I only see it when I wipe, nothing even on a pad. So that doesn't have me or my Dr. overly concerned. So on 1-29-10 I did go for another u/s - the uterus, baby, heartbeat (154bpm), and cervix all looked great - But- Now the Dr. is telling me that there is a problem with the measurement of the gestational sac. That is is about 2 wks behind in growth rate from the baby. So if this doesn't fix itself, I will most likely miscarry. Has anybody had any experience with this situation, or no any info on this topic. This is just aweful, i feel like I am just waiting to loose my baby. I can't even believe this is happening. It has been just one scare after another. It is difficult to stay positive when all you do is worry - I go for another u/s on 2-12-10 to check it again (which seems like a year away!) I am still hoping and praying (none-stop!) for a positive outcome - but very very worried. It just seems crazy to me that they can do heart and eyeball (yes eyeball) transplants!!! but they cannot tell me the correct or definitive information about my baby and my pregnancy! It is very difficult to understand. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Have your US been done on the same equipment by the same person? There can be variations in measurements based on the quality of the equipment and different people doing the US. I also am wondering if the sac has grown from the first US-- I was told about 1 mm growth a day is normal, and the sac is generally at least 5 mm bigger than the crown to rump length of the baby. Also, because we are talking millimeters here, a very small unit of measurement, it can be hard to be completely accurate, and there is still a degree of variation in what can be normal.
I have heard and read stories before about women who had small gestational sacs-- some did go on to have normal pregnancies, and some did not. Only time will tell.

Hi
I am measuring 2 weeks behind my dates currently, and my Dr doesn't seem concerned, although it has worried me from the beginning. I know I ovulated late which counts for about a week of it, but the rest is unexplained. Why does the Dr think you will m/c?? It is because of the spotting also?
I hope the next u/s gives you some answers - keep your feet up in the meantime
Hugs Em
