I had a blighted ovum in April 08 and I read so much on this site and found great comfort. I vowed that if I was lucky enough to fall pregnant I would post on here to encourage others. My blighted ovum was diagnosed at 11 weeks after some red bleeding we were devastated. I started charting and insisted we went to the fertility specialist, which we did in November 08 had all our tests done and I decided my hubby should take vitamin c with zinc and we should become healthier. we went away in December 08 and I stopped charting for the month and decided to relax and bam I fell pregnant again. I was so worried about another BO and thought at 7 weeks I had an eptopic pregnancy as I had severe pain. we went to the hospital and had an ultrasound - which I was so nervous about. That's when I saw the fetal pole and sac. I spent the whole pregnancy worrying we had numerous scans and I was convinced it was all over at 17 weeks when I had brown bleeding which continued on and off for 4 weeks. I was told this was common, I remained nervous. My daughter was born in September and if I can give one person on the site some comfort as others did for me then I hope this post helps. xxxxx (I'm 38, so no spring chicken!) Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place, it's the first time I've posted.

I agree with the others. We share so many sad stories that it is wonderful to share the happy ones too. The happy ones always gave me hope when I was so sad. Thanks again for sharing!

Congratulations and thanks for sharing. Your post is exatly what I've been needing to hear. I've been very concerned about my age after my very first pregnancy and BO. I've been wondering what the possibility is of having a health pregnancy if you're in your very late 30's like me after something like this. I know older women have children all the time, but it's nice to actually hear just the same so thanks.

Congratulations! This is good news. I'm so happy for you! Alas, I am nearly 41, now, so not holding out much hope anymore.
Keep posting the successes, as well as the disappointments. Hope is a wonderful thing.

I have also had success after blighted ovum. My husband and i were so happy to fall pregnant soon after our marrige Nov 07 sadly at 13 weeks i began to spot brown sludge our hearts broke seeing the empty sac. I didn't know what to feel i had loved that baby and she wasn't even there I named her Rosa-Marie and cried for a month. Cautiously we were happy to discover that within 6 weeks of losing our first child we had concieved again i was very ill a 9 week scan revealed that not only was there another blighted ovum but my womb was full of the remains of our first misscarridge I was devestated and due to poor medical care i was sent home to pass out another loved but lost child. the month our first baby was due i went into labour we were in and out of the emergancy hospital for 3 days it was discovered that i had never passed either of my blighted ovums finally a D&C was preformed. 6weeks later i was pregnant again I invested nothing in this pregnancy until the scan expecting nothing i was overjoyed to see the beating heart of my baked bean baby 7mth latermarch 09 a whooping 10pound baby girl came into this world she has been the light of our lives. I appreciate her so much more knowing how lucky i am to have her. Sadly i have recently suffered another Blighted ovum one week ago i was 13 weeks and for some reason i just never considered that it would happen again i hurt so much this time it was twins, Irealise now that every time i conceive i need that early scan to check as my body just holds on and keeps trying to grow the babies until it cant anymore. this my story and all the pain was worth it for my darling Sophie-Jane
