I have been diagnosed with a BO after two u/s (7 wks and 8 wks) and my Dr. initially gave me 800mug of misoprostol. I was afraid to take it (I had a bad experience with labor induction with my first pregnancy) , but finally did....and nothing happened, nothing......other than me feeling lousy (I had also taken the vicodan that he prescribed). I got sick about 16 hours after taking the misoprostol and felt generally nauseous and wigged out- but that was it.
After calling my Dr., he recommended trying it again, but inserting the 800mug (4 pills) of misoprostol vaginally this time. I work part-time and take care of my 2 year old when not at work. I am supposed to go out of town (to Mexico) next week and am trying to figure out if/when to take the misoprostol again. I am scared.
Does anyone have any thoughts or recommendations? I have only told one person about my pregnancy/ and BO diagnosis, so I feel very alone and am glad to have found this site. sandy

Sandy:
I'm sorry, but I miscarried both naturally, so I can't help. But, if you hang on, there are others on this site who I'm sure will post soon who have taken the misoprostol. I am sorry that you feel so alone. This is a great site for info and support. I wish you the best and please keep us posted.

I took the mistoprostol vaginally for my BO in July. The OB only used 600 mg though because Iwas already starting to dilate on my own. It worked pretty quick--bad cramps and bleeding within 4 hours--and it was over within 10 hours. It was pretty painful, but the vicodin did help. My problem, however, was that I had retained placenta that I didn't know about until a week later when I had very heavy bleeding that lead to an emergency D&C. If I were to ever use the mistoprostol again, I would demand a follow-up U/S afterwards to make sure everything had passed.
I am sorry you are having to make this decision. Stacy
