I am new to the board. My repro history is as follows m/c 96', Healthy BOY 03', b/o 04' and currently pregnant with a blighted twin. The empty sac in measuring 2 weeks behind the viable one(9 wk 5 d and 7 wk 5 d). The empty sac in also implanted on top of my cervix. Has anyone heard that low uterine implantation might cause delayed development? Has anyone ever had a diagnosed b/o be incorrect?

Although the circumstances that brought you here are sad ones, I wanted to welcome you! I have no knowlegde of low uterine implantation causing delayed development. I'll be interested to see if and what any of the other ladies have to say about that. I have heard of cases of a misdisagnosed BO because U/S's were done too early or dates were off but I'm not sure thats happened to anyone here! I hope that you find the answers that your looking for and I wish you the best with this pregnancy!
Take Care!

With my son I had some complications due to a low lying placenta, the placenta was attatched very low and I had some complications because it was pulling away from the uterine wall slightly and causing some bleeding partway into the 2nd trimester. It corrected itself and eventually moved up and looked normal at the 20 week ultrasound (I had one at 13 weeks due to unexplained bleeding). My son's development is just fine (he's almost 4) and is in fact very bright. I hope this helps.
As for the blighted ovum, some are misdiagnosed, probably due to misdating. If the baby is viable it is my understanding it should be seen by the 8th week.

Hi there,
I am very sorry you have the need to join us, and for your loss. I have not heard of a blighted twin being implanted on top of your cervix, I am guessing they will watch it and hopefully it will reabsorb? I have heard that occasionally the location of the placenta can affect its growth and development. I will keep you in my prayers for a healthy singleton pregnancy and delivery hun.
Big big HUGS ask any questions you like, and we are here for you.
Kris
