Hi all
I'm 6 weeks pregnant but a week ago I started spotting and cramping. Hosp did hcg test and retested 48 hours later. The initial level was extremely low (107) and 48 hours later was only at 121. Another 48 hours later and the levels have riseon only to 141. The hosp are clear that the pg is not viable. Advice is that the foetus is likely to be resorbed so hosp not inclined to do for D and C. I am still spotting but nothing more.
Does this sound like a B.O? I also wonder if anyone can tell me when I am likely to bleed. Even if the foetus/sac will be resorbed, the lining of the uterus will surely have to come away won't it?
Any advice gratefully received - I'm in the UK and getting to speak to a doc is a near impossibility at our hospital. Nurses are great but are so (understandably) guarded in what they can tell me
Thanks in advance

Welcome Jajexx, I'd like to say first that I'm sorry about the circumstances that have brought you here but I believe that you will find a lot of people willing to offer information and support to you. My BO was diagnosed by Ultrasound at 13+ weeks.......which showed an empty sac. So I personally can't say whether what your experiencing sounds like a BO. I also can't say if you'll bleed anymore than you have if the fetus is reabsorded into your body. I would at least expect a much heavier period next time. I really can't say for sure as I have never had this experience myself before. I went all the way to 13+ weeks with a pregnancy that wasn't viable and never had any symptoms or signs that there was a problem. I took medication to induce mc so I can't even say how much longer my body would have carried the pregnancy for sure. I'm sure that others here will have better information for you in this case. I'm sorry that I couldn't be of more help but I did want to say that you have found a great group of people to help you if you need it.
Take Care!

I am sorry that you have found us. When I was diagnosed w/ my b/o I was 6 wks. I had started spotting. I then started cramping and then spotting turned into what was similar to a heavy af. I had went to er and they had done an u/s but couldn't see anything at all. Then they did a vaginal u/s and that is when they saw the empty sac and said it was collapsing. They did say that it could get worse than af or stay the same and be absorbed by my body. I did have follow up to make sure that my uterus was clear. I went back a couple weeks after the m/c and had another vaginal u/s and a recount of hcg. My hcg was below 5 and all was clear w/ the u/s.
Do they plan on following up w/ you. Did they do an u/s?
Take care and know that there are a lot of women that will be here for you.

Hi all
There is no plan to do a vaginal ultrasound. I asked why not and was told that my hcg levels are such that the u/sound would pick nothing up. No intervention is recommended, just monitoring until I expel anything that remains. My spotting is still so much lighter than my AF that I imagine the worst of the bleeding is yet to come. Follow up in UK seems rather different - no plans for any intervention other than repeat blood tests until they return to normal.
Really just want to know how much bleeding to expect

Jajexx, Everyone's body is different and will react somewhat differently even if situations with people are similar. I don't imagine that anyone can really tell you how much bleeding you'll have at this point. It's pretty much up to what your body decides to do. Maybe someone else here will be able to offer you more advice on that. Hang in there! I'll be thinking about you.
Take Care!
