My understanding is that the cause can be genetic material in the egg or the sperm, although with eggs they age with us so of course that can be a factor since as we get older our eggs are getting older right along with us.

The doctor explained that it could be the egg or sperm. So, yes, i would assume that it could be your husband's sperm that is the problem. However, the other ladies could have had different kinds of miscarriages that had nothing to do with your husband. Ultimately, according to a lot of people, this is not our faults and we did nothing wrong, it's just that way the cookie crumbles.

By "us" I just meant women in general. For that reason I've always thought that there is maybe a greater chance that for the most part it is the egg but there really is no way to know. Blighted ovums can happen to anyone, same with other chromosomal problems such as Downs Syndrome although with age it obviously becomes more of a factor. That said, I was 33 and 35 when I had both of mine (blighted ovum at 32) and they are both fine.
There are so many variables that it would be hard to know, it's likely it's a coincidence. The best way to have an idea would be testing. If I'm remembering correctly it is something like a 15-25% chance of miscarriage with any pregnancy, and the rate stays the same after one loss
That's the most important thing to remember, that it is out of our control and no person is to blame. My SIL called tonight and just told me that a woman who was told at 19 that she would never have children is now 29 and pregnant. Even Doctor's can't tell with certainty what an outcome will be.

I guess I'd personally ask your dr or find a fertilty dr and ask some questions. From reading online I haven't seen anything like that but anything is possible. As far as m/c I know women as well as men that have had several pg end in m/c and still end up having healthy babies.
Good luck

I would have your husband see a doctor to have a semen analysis. It is possible that he has a bacteria that could be causing the miscarriages, and a simple antibiotic could cure it. I think it is worth investigating. Good Luck, Lauren

My DH had genetic tests mostly to rule out anything that way. I think the next step had I not gotten PG would've been semen analysis...but they found something wrong with me so we went with that.
Good luck with everything!

Well, i am not sure if you were directing that question to me (about having kids) but I have one little boy (almost 4) and another one on the way. It was found out that I have a blood clotting gene mutation that causes m/c. So I am on blood thinners this time out.
Big HUGS good luck at your appt tomorrow!

had doctors appt today. I ended up haing to have the meds that make me cramp to high heaven but she said that it looks good. she thinks that it might be a conscience about hubby. So i'm optimistic. I don't have to have a d&c done which is good news. So i have to pass just little more tissue and Ill be on the road to starting again. how long does af take after a miscarriage?

After my D&E I had AF about 30 days later. The doctor wanted us to wait for about 3 months. It took several months to get my cycle back on track. Of course everyone is different and I have a friend that after her MC got PG the next month. I will keep you in my prayers!!!!! Micki

I had my af return about 4 wks. It was a little longer and heavier than I was used to. So be prepared that your af may be different for a few cycles.
take care
