hi, I.m new to this board and just wanted to see if I could get some opinions. I had a D&C due to BO on May 20th. I just had a positive pregnancy test and the doctor said I am pregnant. I was having symptoms (sore breasts, heartburn etc.) however today all the symptoms seem to have subsided? Should I go back to the doctor and ask for another HCG quant? Thisis how I felt the first time (all symptoms vanished). Does any one know how common it is to have two BOs in a row?

I know of a few people that lost pregnancy symptoms but as soon as the hormones started to kick in were pretty sick and had sore bbs. I personally made my dr's follow my hcg & progesterone levels for several weeks after bfp.
I do have a question after your d & c did they check your levels to make sure they got below 5? I know that if they don't that some people nearing af will have some symptims that are pg like.
There are several people that m/c again after a bo. I would call your dr if you are having concerns. It is very stressful to be pg after a mc and it is very easy to get upset by almost anything.
Take care

They didn't check levels on me after my D and C, so I have no idea about that issue.
I agree with Kallie about how scary the next pg after a loss is. For me, I had severe, severe morning sickness with my bo. I did not with my two other pregnancies and my breast tenderness came and went. I wouldn't read too much into it to be honest, each pg is kind of on it's own, I know people who've had a wide range of different symptoms and it didn't mean anything.
I would definately talk to your Dr. and see what they can do for you to help alleviate your stress. This part was the worst for me, the wait and see game to see if everything is ok up until the h/b.

thanks for the help. no quant HCG test after D&C. took hpt last week exactly 5 weeks after D&C because I had symptoms I thought it was PMS but took a HPT to be sure. it was positive. DR told me to come in ASAP (tomorrow was the soonest I coud get in) for bloodwork. i thought i had PMS but it is not possible to get AF with a HCG level high enough o trigger a BFP from what I have read. the line is getting fainter on the HPT though. i hate this feeling. i guess i just wait. i am worried as I fel just like I did with my first BO-loss of symptoms etc. so I am wondering if its the same thing or if the D&C was incomplete.

Hello there,
Welcome to our group. I am so sorry about your loss. From what I have heard, some women have tested positive after a loss due to their still being a small amt. of hormones left in their system (I have gotten a BFP on a test with a HCG as low as 17) Or some have gone on to get pregnant that very next month, like hopefully is the case with you. I would strongly suggest HCG quants every 2-3 days if there is any doubt here. Also, progesterone studies to see if your progesterone is OK.
Big HUGS we will all be thinking of you!!!!!! We all know this stress and worry well!!!!!!!!!

hi, just wanted to give an update and a reminder to everyone who has a D&C- Make sure you get your beta HCG levels tracked to zero! It is now 7 1/2 weeks past my D&C and I just found out I have a hcg of 124. I am now passing the "left-over" tissue and it should go to zero. After the D&C I had bleeding for 2 weeks then stopped and it started just 2 days ago. So there was no spotting for 5 weeks and then it started again. I thought I was pregnant because I was getting a positive test. Very frustrating. So please remember to track to zero. One other note. If you can wait a cycle after your D&C or miscarriage to TTC it will be much easier on you mentally. I tried too early and had positive tests with negative pregnancy-If I had waited to TTC I would have known it was tissue not a new pregnancy. I will listen to advice next time
