Hi ladies, I hope I'm not intruding here but I've been searching the internet over on information and I really can't find the information I am looking for. I am 29 and have an 11 yo son and a 4 yo daughter. I was 14 weeks pg in October of 2004 when we discovered there was no longer a heartbeat so I had a D&C. It was the most devastating news and there was never a sign anything was wrong. I had every symptom of pg there is until I found out. Now I am 7 weeks pg again. I have had few symptoms but they are getting worse this past week. I just got nausea a few days ago (and it has only gotten worse) whereas my last pg I was sick from the 2nd week! I went in for an US at 6w0d and the doctor assured me that we shouldn't expect to see much...the gestational sac and probably the yolk sac and MAYBE the baby. Well we saw the gestational sac and that's it, but she wasn't concerned in the least. I on the other hand know about BO and am terrified this will be the case! I go in next week for another US, but I am so terrified. My question (sorry it took so long to get to it ) is if you have a blighted ovum do your pregnancy symptoms get stronger as the days go by? My breasts were sore from the start, but they have gotten MUCH worse the last few days as has my nausea. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ladies.

First of all, anyone is welcome to post here...it is in no way an intrustion--we are here for anyone who needs help I don't think that an u/s that early is necessarily a sign of a blighted ovum, before we had any support groups I used to get a lot of email off my website of people in the position of you with a follow up that a baby was found later. It's pretty early and dating of the pregancy can be an issue also. Ok, pg symptoms...maybe some others can chime in on this. All I know is for me that I had terrible morning sickness with my first pg which was the blighted ovum and none with the other two. I don't remember about breast tenderness (it was five years ago) but I was puking all the time. Then there is a friend of mine who had a blighted ovum and she had symptoms with both her son and the b/o. So, I am wondering if that is even an indication. For the most part, what the Doctors told me and so on, having the symptoms is a good thing. Of course, with a b/o it's tougher because the whole system is going on thinking there is a baby and the placenta is growing and so on...and the body doesn't seem know what has happened. Did they take your hormone levels? Other ladies here know more about it than me but I believe they can check them to be sure they are doubling (wasn't done in my case because I only first knew what was wrong at 11 weeks when I started to miscarry and by then there was no question about the vaginal ultrasound). If this is causing you anxiety to wait until the next u/s I'd ask if they can do this for you. {{{{{hug}}}} I am so sorry you are having to worry about this again. I know how it weighs on one's mind after having a loss in the first place, I can only imagine how hard this must be. I think they are right and it's too early to draw conclusions. By 8 to 9 weeks it is more conclusive since they should probably be able to see the baby by then, it's always been my understanding that this is the point where they can start to know. We are here for you if you want to vent, let us know how it goes and I'll pray this is a false alarm. Lin

Hello there,
First of all I am so sorry for your prior loss. My 2nd m/c was at 11.5 weeks. I know how traumatic that is, to find out on u/s that there is no baby. I also know your fear, I have had two m/c and after each one attempted to get pregnant again. My 2nd pregnancy resulted in a beautiful perfect little boy but I was scared the entire pregnancy. Then I had my 2nd m/c, which caught me completely off guard because I just didn't think it would happen again after I had had one healthy pregnancy. I am now 14 weeks pregnant and have had like 20 u/s (I am exaggerating...its actually 5 LOL) My first question for you, is was your loss a blighted ovum m/c. You said there was no longer a heartbeat...sorry to bring this up...but that sort of implies that there WAS a hb. The reason I mention this is because if your pregnancy was "viable" then you could very well have been sick and experiencing all the symptoms and signs of pregnancy. When your pregnancy is not "viable" you are less likely to have symptoms, or they would be less severe. I know with my first pregnancy I wasn't sick at all and my breasts didn't hurt. That pregnancy ended at 7.5 weeks. The 2nd (my son) I was very sick right from the beginning and I had every text book pregnancy symptom. The 3rd I had mild nausea and again no breast tenderness. This 4th one I am sooooooooooooo sick. I mean 14 weeks and still sick. Plus my boobs STILL hurt ROFL and now I have a multitude of other annoying symptoms. I will say with both my m/c the one thing that really sticks out in my mind is that I didn't have any stretching pains. That really should've made me think, especially after having a healthy pregnancy.
OK I think I've said enough LOL. I just want to add that 6 weeks is early to see anything. I have several friends who were led to believe they may have a b/o at 6 weeks and had another u/s at like 7.5 weeks and saw a HB. So please don't be discouraged!!! I know it is hard, especially being pregnant after a loss. But your symptoms increasing in severity is a very good sign.
Lots of HUGS for you hun. Maybe if you had some blood work (HCG/progesterone) it would put your mind at ease.
Good luck and welcome!
Kris

Welcome. I am sorry about your m/c. I can only tell you that with my # 1 & 2 pg I had hardly any m/s and some breast tenderness. W # 3 my bo I was so sick from 3 1/2 wks until I m/c. But I didn't have hardly any breast tenderness. Now I am 10 w and I feel like my boobs are huge and they are sore all the time. As far as m/s I am sick all day along w/ several other symptoms. I also have had stretching w/ this one that I didn't have w/ the b/o.
As far as hcg levels. I would have them draw your blood you are early enough that your hcg levels should be doubling every 48 - 96 hours.
Take care and keep us posted.

Thank you all so much! My last pg we had already heard the HB and a sonogram showed my perfect little angel measured 12+ weeks but I was 14. I was EXTREMELY sick and bedridden the entire 3 months. With this one I started off feeling pretty good other than sore boobs and going to the bathroom alot. My nausea just started up a few days ago, that's why I was wondering if it was a BO if I would START getting symptoms now? It's so hard for me to think positive but I was just wondering about the symptoms because now I FEEL pg, whereas a week ago, I didn't feel that bad at all. Thanks again ladies...

If you look on a lot of websites it says that a lot of nauseausness starts at 7 weeks. With hormone levels increasing. On Fertiltyfriend pregnancy site. There are a lot of wom that didn't feel sick until 6 - 7 wks.
It is very hard not to worry after you have already had a loss. Ask your dr to ck your levels. Keep us posted.
Take care

That was what I was wondering...if my nausea is rising, would that be a sign it's not a BO? Thank you all, I couldn't believe when I found this board and it wasn't easy to find! I have researched and researched but there's not a whole lot out there on BO. My doctor never mentioned this as a problem or worry, I just am a member of several MC messageboards so I have heard all about it. I have an anxiety disorder so add the typical anxiety with some panic and a disorder and it's not an easy wait! In any case, I wish you all the best! 2 more days and I should know something, so I'll just have to wait and see.

We were hard to find again? What search did you use to find us, if you don't mind me asking? We have bounced from front page to not showing up at all back and forth on Google. Same with my blighted ovum website, which last I checked had top 10 ranking but I'm scared to look again now. It has actually ranked high, not been listed at all, and ranked high again. I can't figure it out. This board is pretty new, we have a Yahoo sister group that has been around for a few years. I just don't get the ranking issue. I can tell when it's showing up (or blightedovum.kokopuff.net/ which leads here) because we get more new people. I'm just not sure what the solution is and we want to reach as many people as we can. I can't imagine how hard this must be in addition with an anxiety disorder. I know I was a bit freaky with my 2 pregnancies following my blighted ovum. I waited almost the whole 2nd pg to even allow myself to get attatched (although I had some bleeding issues due to low lying placenta that added to my fear) and even with the following pg I did all I could to try to protect myself from getting hurt again. {{{{hugs}}}}} I know the wait has to be a killer but I have a good feeling about your odds. The timing of the ultrasound and the rising symptoms sound good, I don't know why the do the ultrasounds so early (my clinic doesn't do them at all until 20 weeks actually although they hooked me up at 10 or 11 weeks with the last one when they failed to catch the h/b by doppler because I started flipping out) since there is a chance all is well and it won't look like it. Hang in there, you are in my prayers. Let us know what they find out. Lin

I think I found this board through your other website. I also found that if you type in anembryonic gestation as opposed to blighted ovum, you get more results. I wanted to stop in and tell you all that I had my sonogram today and we saw the little peanut and heartbeat right off the bat! I guess 6 weeks was just too early! I wish they wouldn't do the sonograms so early because I know of several women on another messageboard who are going thorugh the same thing I just went through. Thank you all for your help and support.

{{{{{{{{{{mandican }}}}}}}}} YAY!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
I am so happy for you! I agree that they shouldn't do them so early. Since we have the support groups I don't get so many emails anymore but I know that I used to get some now and then with the same results you've posted here--people looking to me for questions and then finding out all is ok in the u/s. I think it's awful that people end up scared when they shouldn't have to be. The silver lining in this cloud, though, is that your little guy or gal is doing great! Thanks so much for letting us know, and I'm so glad that it worked out for you!
Best wishes for a happy and healthy pregnancy!!!
Lin
