Hi everyone. I'm new to the site. I was looking for information on Blighted Ovum when I came across this site. Makes one feel good that they are not the only one going through it and can find some answers, help or just comfort from others situations.
Well, here's my story. I have had two pregnancies and births in my early 20's in my first marriage and no problems - no miscarriages. Along the years I divorced and then - about 3 years ago found the love of my life. We would love to have a child together, however - yes I am older. I got pregnant within the first year of marriage (41) but I mc only about a month into the pregnancy. I was devastated because for me you hear about, well you are older and you will have more mc's and its hard to get pregnant. Yet - I have 4 acquaintances that I know all 40 - 43 who have had pregnancies and healthy babies. So I think if they can do it - so can I. After all I don't know that many people and here are 4 people who have been successful without medical assistance just in my area - the world must be full of them - right?. Seems the odds might be getting better for the older women - maybe?
Well - two and 1/2 weeks ago I went in for a check-up to confirm I'm pregnant. Yes!!! - I was. In the sonogram I didn't really see anything but it did appear that a heart beat was there. The Dr. said come back in 2.5 weeks (8.5 weeks). Today I went in and it appears there is a sac but no baby (it did not appear the heart movement was there either). And yes I get the Well - at your age you will have more mc's - gee I really needed that again. The doc said I could mc in the next week or 2 but if not - the Dr. want's to do the d&c. I will go for a final ultrasound next tuesday with a specialist just to make sure. At this point I'm not thinking good things to come. It's not just the mc (or soon to be one) it is also hard to cope with the time I don't have.
Anyone out there with success stories at 42/43?
