I want to say welcome to everyone, I hope you will enjoy this forum and find it helpful! My name is Lindy, and blightedovum.kokopuff.net/ is my website. I started it (at a different address) shortly after my blighted ovum was diagnosed in 2000. I hadn't heard the term until the ultrasound tech said them to me. I actually never heard them after it, I had to ask the Doctor for details. She was very unhelpful about my desire to find out what happened to crash my dreams and why. Because of this I found myself researching something that had little information available. I hope I've helped change that to some degree. The website took on a life of it's own. People started using the guestbook as a support for each other which is why I started the yahoo group. While I started it, I never participated in it. Niti started posting and the group really took off. Stella has also been a great and wonderful help. I want to thank them for all that they have done. I've named stella as an administrator of this board and hope to name Niti also. If others are interested in becoming a moderator they are the ones to contact. Input as to the direction of the board is absolutely welcome. I set up some categories, but they are not written in stone and this board truly belongs to all of you. Feel free to make suggestions. I think that this format wil help peope have access to all of the wonderful archive type of messages that are offered on yahoo but hard to locate because of the setup. Thank you all for giving this forum a chance, I wish all of you the best!

How funny, all this time I was under the impression that Betty was the moderator. Thanks for clarifying Lindy and updating us all, and seperating out sub topics. I was diagnozed with a Blighted Ovum in December 2003 after my first IUI. I tried 4 more times without success. I am so tired, I have stopped trying while I am getting my Masters degree. I graduate June 15th! Meanwhile five of my friends have got pregnant and three have had babies in the meantime. It hurts, but not as much as before. After the last try with IUI and injectables last Summer, I have started to look into adoption. I am turning 38 next Friday, and my husband is 48. It hurts a lot, and I get depressed a lot, and adoption is so expensive, but on the other hand just slightly more than one IVF try and much better odds. I thank God for this site it has helped me a lot. Being an elementary teacher has helped me a lot too, I get to be with kids all the time. Love, Kristen

Welcome both of you! You must have come here from www.quicktopic.com/17/H/rmWQ58gFDpNm (for clarification from those in the Yahoo group that didn't know there were two groups going out there). I started the quicktopic at about the same time as the yahoo group (a little before though) and it was linked to from the website also. THe guestbook had a max total of 250 entries and it was going to start typing over the old ones and I hated to see that since everyone was being so helpful to one another. Both groups of you have been so wonderul and supportive of each other. I think you all are amazing.

Hi all,
My name is Kris, I am 35 years young, and have had 2 blighted ovum m/c, with a successful pregnancy in between. After my last b/o was discovered on Sept. 26, 2003 on a nuchal fold u/s (almost 12 weeks gestation), I was devastated beyond even my imagination. I chose to wait to TTC for a whole year after my 2nd loss. I am currently trying again, waiting on a phone call this a.m. actually to confirm my pregnancy. :0) I have since seeked infertility assistance, because the question of "why" was haunting me. I have been diagnosed a with prothrombin gene mutation, which means that my blood clots more than the average person, and I have to take blood thinners if I am to get pregnant from 4 weeks gestation through 6 weeks postpartum.
I am glad to meet more people that have been through what we have, although I wish we never met this way. I was a moderator on the yahoo group, but I am most likely ready to "graduate" to the pregnancy after b/o group.
HUGS all!!! Blessings!!!!
Kris

It's me, Betty! I'm not sure if I like this new set up. Took me a while to get it going..and I'm not sure if I did it right. But we'll see. An update for those who don't know me: I will be 41 in May, I lost 4 preg, 1 from bad amnio news, 1 a b/o, 1 at 6 wks, and the last one was in NOv 03 at 14 1/2 wks. We had a CVS test and it revealed a healthy boy. But then I started bleeding and lost my son in the Er at 14 1/2 wks. It was the worst and we weren't going to try again. (He was due on my 40th b'day, May 17th, 04) We recently decided to try again, so we're hoping to be preg soon. I hope everyone is doing good. Kristen, its funny that you thought I started this group. I guess its a complaiment...thanks. How r u doing? I hope everyone comes on over.
Lindy, This site has been so helpful for me. Thanks, and its nice to meet u.
Kris, Good luck to u and let us know how your preg blood test goes. My sister has factor 5 and needed to take meds during all 3 of her pregnancies..and it worked out fine.
Lauren, How r u doing? I hope your doing good. Betty

Hi everyone. I am Kallie from Yahoo group. I had a bo in July of 2004. It took me a bit to get this figured out but I think I will have to remind myself every day this is how to do it... At least for a few days anyways.
Hope everyone follows us over.
Kallie

Hi all,
It's Mary from the yahoogroup. Glad I figured out how to join this board! You have all been such an encouragement- it helps so much to read about what others have gone through and know that none of us are alone.
I had a b/o this past Thanksgiving, it was our second baby and I hadn't heard the heartbeat yet or had an u/s- I had an appt at 8 weeks but it was too soon to hear the heartbeat- when I was 12 weeks along I had a tiny bit of spotting and decided to go in just to check, and one thing led to another as we found out it was a blighted ovum.
Now ttc again, my cycles are all messed up so that has been a big downer. Hoping they get straightened out very soon.

Hello everyone,,iam Stella. I have been a part of the Yahoo Group since Sept of 2003, after my second b-o. Finding that group and the women there was what helped me through it all. I had my first and successfull pregnancy in 2000, i had twins, a boy and a girl. Then i became pregnant in 2002 only to lose it to a b-o at 13 wks. I became pregnant again in 2003 only to end up needing a d&c at 7 wks becuase of another blighted ovum. I have tried off and on since then but have decided to stop for a few years just to give it all a rest. Iam 31 so i figure i have a couple years to relax before going through all that again. Alot of women have come and gone in this group but i just cant bring myslef to ever leave lol...i want to be here for any new girl that finds herself in that awfull situation i was in. Hope to get to meet all the other women from the other list Stella

This is Alex - I am also from the other site. I suffered a bo in January - I had my D&C on the 18th of January. This was also my first pregnancy.
I have good days and tough days. Today, seems to be going pretty well even though I am single and missing my baby!
But, on a brighter note - I will begin trying to conceive again in March. My OB signed off on my paperwork for the CA Cryobank. So - hopefully, home insemination will work.
In the meantime, I continue to read my self help books - and keep my chin up.
Hearing from all of you really helps alot.
I must say though - seeing Suzanne's wonderful news this past weekend made me worry that I had my D&C too soon (at 8 weeks) and should have waited longer. Maybe my baby would have developed and been healthy like hers? In my heart, I guess it isn't possible - but it did make me wonder all weekend.
Thank you ladies for this group. You are the Best! ~Alex

Alex We all have those thoughts, that maybe we did it too soon. but iam sure that we did not. Our dr;s are not going to do anything to hurt a viable pregnancy. The dr looks at other things besides just your u/s. Iam so sorry you had these doubts...i wrestled with it mysefl...but you have to believe in your heart that you did the right thing..and i do belive that you did...thre was no choise unfortunaly for us. Were here for you sweetheart Stella

Hi there,
How many days would you usually have some bleeding & spotting going on after d&c? For me, it;s the 7th day, but I still see some on & off bleeding (much lighter than a normal period); just a little concerned. Do you guys have it that long?
I was told by my doctor that I have an ovary syst - does any of you ever have that? Do you treat it at all? Thanks.

Ching, I bled for about a week after my D and C if I remember correctly. I think I remember them telling me up to 10 days. I was told to call if I got gushes or felt light headed. The concern there is if there was possibly hemoraging. It sounds like what you've described is pretty normal. You might want to start a thread about his under blightedovum.proboards46.com/index.cgi?board=General and name it something descriptive like "bleeding after a d and c" and you will probably get more responses. Kind regards, Lin

Hi, my name is Lauren and I was on the other site. I suffered a bo at 7 weeks and had a d&c on 12/23/04. Since then my doctor has run many immunological tests because through genetic testing from the d&c it was determined that the baby was genetically healthy. I tested abnormal for something called Natural Killer Cells, so I am wondering if anyone here has any experience with this? The treatment is called IVIg and it is an IV that I will need to get while tring to conceive through 28 weeks of a pregnancy. We are hoping to start ttc in April, but I would love to talk to some people who hae gone through the IVIg. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Lauren

Hello. I am Amanda. I am 25. I am from the quick topic group. I was diagnosed with a bo in July 03 and had my d&c in Aug. I was supposed to be 11 weeks when I found out at my first check up. I had no idea anything was wrong. I then got pg again in Nov 03 only to mc in Jan around 8 weeks. I was so ready to give up on trying. I have 2 beautiful kids that are 7 & 8 and i figured that was all I was meant to have. Then in May 04 I got pg again. I am happy to say that I am now holding a healthy baby boy. His name is Caleb and he will be 4 weeks tomorrow. I had him Jan 20th. I am here to give support to anyone who has to go through this awful diagnosis. Everyone helped me so much getting over my 2 losses and helped me with my fears with my pg. I am forever greatful and want to do the same. Thank you Lindy for starting the site. ~Amanda
