I had my 8 week ultrasound 2 days ago and all we found was an empty sac. HCG levels were 21k. I'll repeat HCG tomorrow, but I am certain of my dates so am not expecting a positive outcome.
Am currently trying to weigh the options available. For those who chose to wait for the miscarriage to happen naturally, how many weeks were you when it happened? I really want to put this whole thing behind me, but at the same time hate the thought of a D&C though I know it is considered a minor surgery.
Thanks in advance

I'm so sorry for your loss! It is a hard choice. I chose to wait it out both times, one with a good outcome, and one with not. The first one everything passed on its own without much pain, and the second I miscarried at 10 weeks and ended up hemmoraging and needing an emergency D&C. My advice would be to do some research online and decide of you can emotionally handle waiting possibly another month or so. It is hard either way, but with the d&c you would be able to end things quickly. The downside to D&C is the possible complications. I had a tubal pregnancy right after my D&C and I believe it caused scar tissue in my tube causing the tubal pregnancy.

Hope your doing OK? I have miscarried naturally, with meds and D&C for me I would say the D&C was the best option. It was over quickly and I could start to heal. Emotionally a natural m/c that drags on is awful and heartbreaking but it is a personal choice how. you deal with it. Meds are another choice but you should carefully discuss with your Dr. as some women on here had complications. Sorry the site hasn't been busier it has slowed down some as those of us that have been here a long time get busier in our life after loss and there are less new posters but we are still here for you. Hi, I am sooo sorry for your loss and the decision you are having to make. I will say that my first two natural miscarriages were very painful and he OB did not prepare me at all for what I was going to experience. I was 10 weeks with the first and 7 weeks with the second. My next two were considered chemical pregnancies because so short--5 and 6 weeks--and these felt more like heavy, very crampy periods. I had actual labor type pains with the first two. The one at 10 weeks was nearly as painful as my first live, healthy birth--but much worse because there was no good outcome. I had several friends tell me I would have been better off with a D/C. It took me about a week off and on to pass everything with the first. The second at 7 weeks was shorter--2 days--but still very painful.
Prayer for comfort your way.
