Hey all,
This is my first time here, I'm trying to gain some understanding into what's currently going on with me, and see if anyone else has experienced something similar.
My LMP was June 27. Took a preg. test August 1 and it popped positive instantly. I had been having a pain on my lower right side so my OB sent me for an early u/s to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. He also noted my uterus felt larger than estimated gestational age. Had the u/s Aug. 4. It showed absolutely nothing in the uterus except for very thick lining. They said I was probably not as far along as LMP suggested and to repeat in a week. One week later (by LMP at 6w4d) had another u/s. At this point I am in a different state. My husband is Army and deploying shortly, we are kind of like gypsies as he completes training all over the place before he leaves. So this u/s machine is not the best (I know this because this doctor delivered my daughter, and she told me herself). This u/s showed the a gestational sac which measured "large" (I didnt get exact numbers). And a small yolk sac. No fetal pole. The g sac was abnormally shaped. I was told there is a 50/50 chance of it being a viable pregnancy and to repeat u/s in a week. One week later (yesterday) I got another u/s at yet another OB's office. This one is in the middle of nowhere, willing to bet they don't have the best u/s machines. The OB did the u/s in under a minute. Told me it hasn't grown and looks like it's starting to collapse. (I actually thought it looked a lot more round and smooth from last week). I was told it's a miscarriage. They will do another u/s next week and then schedule a d&c.
I'm not trying to get my hopes up but when I asked this week's OB for measurement comparison he said the g sac was 2.7cm. But had no measurements in my records for last week. It seems the notes from last week's u/s were vague and had no numbers. So how do we know there hasn't been any growth? Also I have a tilted uterus which I know can cause issues with seeing things on an u/s. The weird thing is at last week's u/s my hcg was 36,000. As of yesterday it was 138,000. Why is it still doubling every 48 hrs if nothing is growing? Has anyone ever had this happen? I accepted that this pregnancy was lost, but now I can't help wonder if maybe, just maybe there has been some discrepancy with following the growth as the u/s were all done at 3 completely different places.
I have an apt. on Tuesday with a perinatologist for a 'viability check'. I just want to make sure there is no hope before I do a d&c. What's really screwing with me emotionally is I feel so pregnant. My stomach is pouched. And I have morning sickness all day and night, bad, just like I did with my daughter.
Should I have any hope? Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? I would so appreciate any responses. I feel like I'm losing my mind and this waiting game is just awful.
Thank you...
