I just read an article in the new Women's Day magazine about foods that can increase odds of getting pregnant. The recommend: Slowly digested carbs--whole wheat pasta, brown rice, whole wheat bread Protein mostly from plan sources--beans, nuts and eggs Good fats--mono and polyunsaturated fats in olive oil, peanut oil and canola oil as well as cashews, almonds and seeds like sunflower and pumpkin Whole milk and full fat dairy foods.
Also said women with body mass index of 20-24 are least likely to experience ovulatory infertility, take a daily multi-vitamin reduced risk of ovulatory infertility by 40%, and those who took iron supplement 40-80 mg were 40% less likely to have trouble getting pg.
All I can say is whole wheat pasta -- Blech! But I'll try it. Also I obviously need to lose some weight. Before I got pg w/ my 5th baby I had lost 30 lbs using the South Beach Diet (which includes most of the foods above except the whole fat milk products) and guess what? I got pg! My body mass index is now like 29 or 30. I gained all that weight back and then some!
Anyway for what it's worth that's what the article said.

I read that same article, Carol. I just thought I'd let everyone know that I was eating lots of whole milk yogurt and cheese, peanut butter, olive oil, and whole wheat when I conceived. Whole wheat pasta is good, try a sun dried tomato alfredo sauce with it and it's excellent. Cook everything with olive oil, and eat lots of nuts. It worked for me!

Great thread! I'm going to move this to the resource area for that reason!
