This is going to be graphic and gross, but facinating, so read with an open mind. I officially miscarried today. I am bleeding quite heavy, passing jelly like clots and you won't believe this...the gestational sac came out COMPLETELY WHOLE with the baby in it! I kid you not, the sac is clear and about the size of a small walnut in the shell and I held it up to the light and the yolk sac and a tiny embryo about 1/8 of an inch was still attached! It was white, tadpole shaped and probably had grown for a week before it stopped progressing. It's little heart never had a chance to beat = ( . DH was facinated, we stared at it forever, it even had the tissue connecting it to the uterus still intact! We had a chance to say goodbye to our little one. We kept it and want to take it to the dr. and see if they can do genetic testing on it and find out if it had chromosomol defects or if the tissue showed faulty hormones or something...do you think they will test it? I bet they say insurance doesn't cover it so they won't. Has this happened to anyone before? Shelly

Hey Shelly, Wow that is odd...never heard of that before. Glad it helped you with the good bye's. After my D&C's they ordered all those tests to find out anything they could based on all they took out, so maybe they'll do the same for you. Not sure how long after it's expelled that it has to be done. Can I ask....Where is the little guy being stored? Best wishes on your recovery from all of this. Barb

Wow. That is very fascinating. From what I've heard other people say, it sounds like whenever possible they do the testing. I hope they do so you know for sure what happened. Michelle

Shelly:
I think this is very interesting (not gross at all). I had a d&c, so I have no idea what anything looked like. It is amazing what out bodies do. It sounds like seeing this gave you some closure. I wish you the best in the future.

It did give me closure. I was able to tell it I loved it despite how tiny, I loved it. It made it alot more real that we had a baby growing and then it stopped. I thought I was over it, but then cried when I went to bed. The ob called today to see if I passed it and I told him about the sac and he claims that for the tests to show anything it needs to be rushed to the lab right when it comes out. We stored it in a ziplock bag in the refridgerator (research said to do that) and he said he thinks it won't work. = ( Don't know what to do. shell

Shelly Hun....Wow, I was fascinated reading your post. That is amazing. I am so glad for you and DH to have a chance to see your "pregnancy" for what it was and to say good-byes and I love you's. I'm sure it was and will be very emotional for you and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. It doesn't sound like it can be properly tested which is a shame. I wish you the best in your future. Thanks for sharing with us!
Hugs. Erin

Shelly, I too was facinated with your post! I didn't find it gross at all. When we all have been through a similar situation, we tell each other everything. I'm so sorry that you can not have any testing on the baby. Have you ever thought of burying it in your yard and putting a tree or bush there to remind you??? I thought of that after I had taken mine to the ER for testing -they were never able to tell me anything anyway:( and I lost a chince to see life bloom again in my yard. Just a thought, Charlotte

In response to gaxiola 101, I had contractions....which was a suprise to me. I had to do my breathing, but not bad enough to feel like hard labor or anything. The actual passing of the pregnancy didn't hurt, just felt weired coming down the vaginal tract. In response to Charlotte, I didn't think of burying it and planting a tree, but I couldn't do that anyway, we live in an apartment and don't even have a yard. shelly
