I agree that i would be finding a different dr. He sounds a little insensitive to say the least. I don't know much about the procedure you had but maybe some of the other ladies may be able to help.

I am so sorry that you had to find us and for your two losses. We are here when you need us. (((HUGS)))

I am so sorry for your losses. I wish I could give you answers but unfortunately for most of us we never get them. I still don't know why I lost my babies. Some of the other ladies may be able to give you more advice. I am not sure where you are but my first instinct is to tell you to find another Dr. that can be more supportive of your losses. There are simple blood tests they can do to eliminate some of the causes of m/c. Take care of yourself. We are here if you need to vent.

2 Blighted Ovums in a row....
« Result #3 Yesterday at 2:07pm »

I am currently going through my 2nd consecutive miscarriage classified as a Blighted Ovum.

I have a healthy 2 year old boy, and had no complications during the pregnancy. During the pregnancy the doctor diagnosed me with Sever Dysplasia, so after my son was born I had to have the LEEP procedure. A year ago we started trying again. I got pregnant twice this year and started bleeding around 7/8 weeks with both. I'm wondering if the LEEP procedure has anything to do with the failing pregnancies? For any of you that have had consecutive BO's in a row, what did your doctor do? Did they test you for anything? What did you find out? My doctor said I have to have 4 BO's in a row for them to do any testing. I do not want to go through this 4 times!

Hi ya, firstly let me say how sorry i am for your loss. I realise that the D&C will be behind you now. I did not find mine that bad physically. Emotionally i cried when they were putting me under and then when i woke up. Be kind to yourself for the next little while, as Lauren said the hormone crash is the worst. I was numb for around a day and then just plummeted. It helped to have friends and family supporting me thru.
Thinking of you.

I have had 3 D&C's and the first one I was not totally put out, and it was much less pleasant and a lot more cramping and pressure feelings. I have found both times I have had D&Cs with general anesthesia that when I come out there is almost a euphoric feeling, which I know sounds horrible, but I think that it must be some combination of having the anesthesia and just having the waiting behind me. I think the worst part is the hormonal crash that comes for about the next week. I am always extremely emotional for about a week afterwards. I still have my moments, but they are more in my control now two weeks post D&C. I have my 2 week follow up tomorrow!

Good luck to you and I hope that you have as easy an experience as you can considering what you are going through. I will be thinking of you & please let me know if you ever want to talk.
xo, Lauren

I didn't have a lot of pain afterwards either time. As for being put under, it's not so bad. It must really be unpleasant if they want to put women completely out for it. I've been under general anesthesia four times now, and each time when I woke up it was like "when are you going to start?" I guess that means it's like no time passed at all. I know I woke up freezing cold both times I had a d & c and woke up under one of those air-pumped warming blankets (like they put on hypothermia victims). That was really the only unpleasantness I associated with the surgery. I realize you probably have already had it by now, so I hope everything went as smoothly as possible for you. I know my recovery was not bad either time. I had little to no bleeding for the first week and then I bled like a light period for about a week and a half after that. But whatever your doctor tells you to expect is what you should expect - anything abnormal you should report to him or her.

I am sorry for your loss. Hopefully the physical healing is easy for you so you can focus on the most difficult part - the emotional healing.

After my D&C physically I felt OK. There wasn't a whole lot of cramping or anything after. I was just tired that night from the meds by the next day I felt pretty normal. Lots of good thoughts your way for tomorrow.

 going for my D&C
« Result #8 on Dec 20, 2009, 2:05pm »

So I took the pills to help me miscarry and nothing really happened. I go into the hospital tomorrow for my D&C. I'm really scared and nervous!! I don't know what to expect. How did this go for all of you?? I'm nervous about being put under for the procedure, but on the other hand I'm glad that I will be. I don't think I would want to be awake for it. Did you guys have a lot of pain after it???

I got it i think at around 18 weeks although i can't remember exactly when. I haven't had any problems with it. My doctor strongly recommended getting it because H1N1 effects the lungs, which can be very dangerous for pregnant women who have reduced lung functioning. I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry!

Depends on the dose. I started bleeding within 20 min of taking them. It was VERY heavy with cramping for about 6 hours and then pretty much stopped. I don't think many of the ladies on here other than me have taken the pills to m/c so I am not sure how many answers you will get. Let me know if you need to know anything else.

« Result #11 on Dec 17, 2009, 4:52pm »

I started taking the pills to miscarry my blighted ovum. How long does it take for them to start working?, bleeding?, or cramping??, and how long until it's done??

Had my u/s... confirmed blighted ovum.... I got the pills to start taking. If they don't work the I have a apt for the D&C on Monday... I knew this would be the outcome but was trying to have hope. I think most of the sad and crying is mostly done and hoping to move on. Maybe I can try again and have better luck.. Thank you everyone for being here!!!
